Beautiful night view of Ginzan Onsen in Obanazawa City, Yamagata Prefecture Tohoku Japan, the nostalgic landscape of the Taisho Period has become a symbol of the spa town. At Ginzan Onsen, rows of ryokans built from the Taisho era to the early Showa era are arranged along the Ginzan River flowing through the center of the hot spring town. You can also feel the illusion as if you did a time slip in the past world. It became a popular spa inn for guests to visit from not only domestic but also from overseas because it became the stage of NHK’s continuous TV novel “Oshin”. It is also famous as a sightseeing spot to visit on a day trip, as there are day-trip bathing facilities here. In the past, it was said to be the stage of the Ghibli movie “Spirited Away.” However, Mr. Hayao Miyazaki said that there was no specific model place including “Miyagi Kamasaki Onsen”, “Gunma’s Shima Onsen”, “Nagano’s Shibu Onsen” and “Tottori’s Hawai Onsen”.
