The Soma Beach Festival, which was held on July 20, 2019 as a sea-opening event at Haragama Obama Beach in Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture Japan, is the second event to be held following last year. At night, more than 2,000 beautiful fireworks were launched. Haragama Obama Beach was selected as one of the “88 selections of Japanese beaches” pruned by the Ministry of the Environment in 2001 as a shallow and calm beach. However, due to the damage caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011, swimming was prohibited. After the subsequent restoration work, the beach will be reopened for the first time after the earthquake on July 21, 2018. It seems that the operation was resumed after confirming that it had returned to the level before the Great East Japan Earthquake by improving the tide embankment that was damaged by the tsunami, removing debris in the sea, and measuring the amount of radiation in seawater and beaches.
