One year after the Great East Japan Earthquake | Onagawa, Miyagi Japan

3.11 A view of Onagawa-cho, Oshika-gun, Miyagi Prefecture Japan, one year after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Onagawa, the port town with the highest amount of saury in Japan, was hit by a 14.8-meter-high tsunami following the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011. The tsunami inundated an area of about 320 hectares and severely damaged about 240 hectares.
Onagawa-cho was also severely injured, with 574 people dead and 253 missing people who were later found to have died.
Before the earthquake, we were able to see the scenery of a port town with shopping streets and houses lined around Onagawa Port.
However, even after one year from the disaster, it remained almost untouched, and collapsed roads, collapsed quays, and buildings that were lying down were left as they were.
In front of the Onagawa Municipal Hospital on the hill, there was also a Offer flowers stand.
