Great East Japan Earthquake Reconstruction Assistance Minamisanriku Town Cheering Party
This is a video of the Minamisanriku-cho cheering party, which started from Kobe, 20 years after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, to support reconstruction after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
In the stricken area that was damaged by the unprecedented tsunami caused by the 3.11 Great East Japan Earthquake, the hard days of uncertainties continue.
Fumihiko Tani, the owner of the fish shop [SELFISH] in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, which is also the area affected by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, started this activity immediately after the earthquake.
In the area affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, he sent relief supplies to Miura-san in Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture, who had been continuing support activities even though he was affected by the disaster.
In a conversation with Miura-san, he said, “The local people are depressed. Isn’t it something that encourages you?” And he came up with this project.
In 2014, I visited Minamisanriku-cho on May 13th and 14th, and did activities such as cooking, erhu and guitar, and live dance.
